Once upon a time I covered high school sports for the Sun City paper. Among my beats was wrestling and the highlight was the Peoria Invitational - not for the matches but for the food in the hospitality room.

Day One - Friday - was pure fast food fare. But Day Two - Saturday - was the burrito delivery from La Perla. I knew of more than one coach who wanted to have at least one wrestler survive to day two so they could stick around for the red or green chile burritos.

La Perla's truly a gem.

I have to admit, the chimi I had at La Perla was, probably, the best chimi I've ever had. Nice and crunchy under the sauce, absolutely stuffed with chorizo, and everything was hot and fresh. Quite yummy.

However, hon, I somehow think that a Tejano-tinged version of "Close to You" would probably have sent me over the brink.

Old town Glendale is like a strange mystery to me. A Choose Your Adventure book, except with no real endings. And each time I go there I leave without eating anything.

But now I know better. Thanks Seth.

And I will say, I never knew cheese crisps even existed until I came to Arizona and found your blog. Not that I'm going to (or can) eat any, but still...

Yum! Within driving distance, so I'll definitely be trying them out when I'm in that neck of the woods.
